On-Going Activities
Global Restoration Network Database
A current joint trustee/industry activity underway is the population of the Society for Ecological Restoration Global Restoration Network Online Database (Database) which aims to provide all relevant information concerning ecological restoration, including case studies, experts, organizations and literature. NRDAR practitioners are encouraged to submit “Fact Sheets” on NRDAR sites involving completed restoration projects, and other related information, to the Database. To submit a Fact Sheet or for more information, see the Database website. The Ad-Hoc Industry Natural Resource Damage Group has issued a call for case examples from the industrial community. Companies wishing to submit case examples may contact us at group@NRDonline.com for additional information and/or to request that Group submit a case example(s) on their behalf.
Industry/Trustee Standing Committee
The Industry/Trustee Standing Committee was established in 1999 by the Ad-Hoc Industry Natural Resource Damage Group in order to provide a “ready mechanism” for information requests, communications and practice exchange between government and industry. The Committee is comprised of 8 – 10 industrial companies; and, on an invited basis: 5 national industrial trade associations; representatives of 5 Federal Trustee Departments and Agencies; the US Environmental Protection Agency; and State government representatives. The Committee is open to undertaking joint projects that further mutual NRDAR goals, including expeditious natural resource restoration and related issues.
Regional Joint Assessment Teams
Regional Joint Assessment Teams (JATs) were created to promote the cooperative Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) process by providing forums to share information and experience, as well as develop working relationships between government and industry at the initial stages of the NRDA process. Currently, there are three active regional JAT programs: the Great Lakes Region; the Mid-Atlantic and the West Coast, which typically convene one or more times a year. Representatives from regional state and federal trustee agencies and industrial companies participate. Establishment of a Gulf JAT is under exploration. The Group isctive facilitoatory of industry participation in the JATs. Industrial company representatives interested in additinoal information or direct involvement are invited to contact us at group@NRDonline.com.
